Circ/Plaza/Site/museum

These don't really show all that much, just trying to get ahold of it. When it comes down to it, I think the difference between circulation at plaza level vs below plaza level is whether to privilege the site or the museum.

Circulation below the plaza = Pro Site.
Circulation at plaza = Pro Museum.

Goin home.

  1. Dont read too much into that last comparison table. I dont think its a validation for either direction.

What it does suggest is that the plaza-above-circ scheme may not have enough program on the circ to justify a loop. In other words, the open village would have underground connections running through the center of the square, or we dont arrange the village in a ring, bringing them into the middle.

  2. Basically, separating the circ and plaza means we have to choose which programs are at plaza level, and which are at circ level, unless they are 2 stories. Not all the program needs to be connected, but it does create two types of progrs, those belonging to the museum and those belonging to the plaza/site/public. This could be useful in terms of paid/free zones, but it also renders the museum as possibly subordinate to the plaza/square/village.

When circ is at plaza level, it is the museum actively creating the plaza and becoming a more integral part of its activity. On the other hand, it ropes alot of program together that doea not need (or want?) to be together.

  3. sorry, i need more time to get a better understanding, but at a first glance it's what i've been fearing. we don't have enough program to sustain and underground circlulation/ loop.
so yes, it seems forced although it makes for a nice 'outside'.

that being said, i fear that an above ground loop might either not be too long/ borign, or visually too obtrusive. this might change if surrounded by forrests and stuff.

first seems forced, second somewhat to simple. maybe that is good?

  4. The above ground loop might NOT be too boring? We can certainly make it more boring if needed.
